Prof. Vitale was recently invited to particpate in a taped debate with Harvard Sociologist Adaner Usmani, who along with his co-author Christopher Lewis are arguing that as socialists they have no choice but to embrace the hiring of 500,000 additional police as the only possible way to address crime in America. Below is my opening statement. The debate was organized by NY Magazine and will air later this spring. We look forward to sharing the final version of the dabte with everyone when it is released.
